Although cleaning up the environment on the eastern Caribbean islands is not a core activity for Macario Advantage, removing and recycling debris is something that we discuss with the authorities whenever possible while we are on the islands. We are encouraged by recent legislation on the island of Dominica to eliminate plastic and Styrofoam from food service and other businesses starting in January 2019. Pilot recycling programs are also underway. New hotels are under construction, so cleaning up the old debris and improving collection and recycling services will help to ensure high occupancy for the betterment of the economy. We wish Dominica full success in its efforts to build on its reputation as the “Nature Island” of the eastern Caribbean.
